About Blue to Gold Law Enforcement Legal Training
Cops don't need law school.
They need clarity.
Blue to Gold is the legal authority for law enforcement. We take the part of the job that gets officers and agencies sued, the law, and make it something every cop can understand, remember, and use.
Our Story
It started with a sergeant losing cases he should have won.
Blue to Gold did not start in a law office. It started in a patrol car.
Anthony Bandiero spent the first part of his career on the road. First as a municipal police officer, then as a sergeant with the Nevada Highway Patrol. He worked stops. He supervised officers who worked stops. And he kept seeing the same thing happen to good cops.
They were not losing cases because they missed the contraband. They were losing them on the front end. The reason for the stop. How long it lasted. What was said before the search. What got written afterward. Solid instincts, evidence on the ground, and then a motion to suppress, and it was gone.
Nothing in the training pipeline was built to prevent that. A few hours of Fourth Amendment law in the academy, then years of nothing, then a defense attorney asking questions nobody had prepared them for. The cost landed on the agency: suppressed evidence, prosecutions that fell apart, and civil claims that could have been avoided.
So he went to law school. Not to leave policing, to fix it. He graduated summa cum laude from Gonzaga University School of Law, and then did the thing almost nobody does with a law degree: he went back to the roll call room.
He is now admitted to practice in Idaho, Washington, and New Jersey, and before the United States Supreme Court. He has trained officers in 47 states, written the Search and Seizure Survival Guide for all fifty states plus a federal edition, and serves as a search and seizure consultant and expert witness for agencies around the country. He still teaches.
We don't hand officers cases to memorize.
Most legal training gives officers a stack of case names to remember. That works right up until the situation in front of them does not match the textbook, which is most of the time.

Live classes are POST-certified in many states. On-demand courses issue a certificate of completion with documented training hours; many agencies accept those hours for in-service credit, but the rules vary, so check with your training coordinator.
