Foot Pursuit Tactics and Contingencies is a survival-focused standalone course extracted from the larger Mastering Proactive Policing for Patrol class. Built for working patrol officers who face the modern reality of suspects who do not just flee but turn and fight, this course is designed to load contingencies into your training before you ever need them. It is taught by an active patrol instructor with real pursuit video from his own unit’s work.
The course is built around three lessons. A brief disclaimer that frames the modern threat picture. A foundational tactics lesson covering positioning, contingencies, weapon retention while moving, partner coordination, structure entries, and the decision points that separate pursuit from containment. And a deeper lesson on structure entries, post-pursuit cooling down, articulation for use of force, and the legal framework that wraps around every foot pursuit. The lessons are built around real video reviewed with running commentary, so you can see what works, what does not, and why.
After completing this course, you will be able to think about foot pursuits as a sequence of decisions rather than a single sprint, recognize when to switch from pursuit to containment, navigate structures with the right geometry, and document the pursuit in a way that protects you and your agency. You will leave with the contingencies pre-loaded so that the first time you encounter a scenario is not the first time you have thought about it.
You must log in and have started this course to submit a review.
